Any work by Joaquín Torres-Garcia, (who I have already written briefly about in these pages) always brings me a great joy. Born in Montevideo in 1874, he spent much of his early life in Barcelona, then on to Paris and New York before returning to live in Uruguay where he led a prolific work life. An anecdote of importance concerning him is that much of his art work was destroyed in a fire at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio in 1978. Alas…
